A Walking Tour of the City Centre

Straight after our decadent chocolate experience we were on the bus to the Hofberg Palace to meet our guide Margaret. She took us on a walking tour through the Hofberg Palace complex, once occupied by the Emperor, but now museums and government offices. Around the centre of the city is the Ringstrasse or ring road. This was once a wall that surrounded the palace and inner city. The wide area of land now has prestige apartments and the Museums of Fine Arts, Natural History and the Mueums Quartier. We also visited the opulent St Stephens Cathedral with its intricately patterned tiled roof. We climbed to the top of the tower, via a lift, to see amazing views over Vienna and the St Stephendom Square below.
